Change is hard but God is with you!

I’m in a season of change and uncertainty about what I will do moving forward; I’m finding it tough particularly not to get anxious about the future. Writing this post has forced me to look into what the Bible says about change and anxiety and it has brought me peace and comfort.

When I feel shaken and that certain parts of my life are changing I find great comfort in knowing the Lord does not change and is always with me, ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever’ (Hebrews 13:8).

Not only is God unchanging, but he is also always with me, as Psalm 139:5 says: ‘he hems me in behind and before…’ God is directing my steps and he knows where I am going even when I don’t.

Walking with God though doesn’t mean that it will be an easy journey. In Joshua 1:1-9 God commands Joshua three times to be ‘strong and courageous/very courageous’ when giving him instructions about taking the Promised Land for the Israelites. Now you don’t need courage and strength when life is easy! Courage is a choice, not an emotion, and it is a choice we can make because God Almighty is walking with us. I love how Psalm 91:1 puts it: ‘Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.’

So if you are anxious or uncertain today, I challenge you to meditate on these words of truth and let them renew your mind.

If you would like to read more on this topic, I recently wrote a post called: ‘God’s will not mine.’ In this post I looked at how I needed to seek God’s will in my season of uncertainty and not present him with my ideas and ask him to bless them.
