My Healing From Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

During my illness when I heard of healings (especially from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which I had) it would either give me hope or demoralise me. I was often left with questions such as: why them and not me? Why do I still continue to face this daily physical and mental battle? God, why am I still sick when people have prayed for my healing? It is very hard psychologically when we do not know if or when we will get well. In light of this, it has taken me a long time to write a post about God healing me because I wanted to process what had happened and consider how best to convey it to you.

Two months ago God healed me from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. For nearly four years I led a highly structured and restricted life (more on that here). In an instant my life has been turned around and I am full of thanksgiving to have been completely freed from this illness. I now have normal capabilities; I am hiking and have commitments for the whole working week.

I believe that there were multiple indicators that my healing was in God’s timing and at his initiation. Four different people independently felt that I would be healed at the time I was, the first one more than a year beforehand. On the day of my healing I was at a church camp, in a meeting of thousands and I ended up standing next to my pastor who despite having another role to fulfil felt compelled to pray for me.

I can’t explain why I have been healed when so many people I know face the daily battle of sickness. If this is you, my prayer is that my story would give you hope and that God would lay his healing hands on you. ‘May the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit’ (Romans 15:13).

All of us whether in good times, hard times, sick or well need to keep our hope in Jesus. ‘Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…’ (Hebrews 12:1-2).

  1. I met Lucy about 3 weeks into her healing. I had met her before a few times but had no clue this was the same girl! She was healthy and strong looking, seemed to be completely transformed and was at her new place of employment when I met her! I am not only thrilled that her life has been changed but would love that we would all be free from the “whys” of faith. I would love that we rejoice in the miraculous, not apportioning cause or reason as our scientific minds are inclined to do, not suggesting competition as our human frailty is prone to do or figuring out God as our vulnerability to understanding is determined to do. Healing happens. We get to lay hands on the sick and very often they are healed. Some don’t seem to be and that hurts – a lot. But you don’t stop visiting the dentist BECAUSE you have tooth pain, or the hospital BECAUSE you have a bad diagnosis. Then naturally we should always offer healing in Jesus to those with that need, and keep on with compassionate loving prayer. I bless God for His wonderful grace to Lucy and to all of us. My dream is to see the healing Jesus bring about His wonders of mercy for every person in need every single day. Don’t give up, you are always on the edge of your miracle.

      1. Hi Lucy, after reading about your prayers for your healing, I was prayed over on 17th December, 2018, and I believe that was the beginning of my healing. I t is now August 2019, and I have gained weight, and now weigh 50kgs, and still gaining. I am putting on fat and muscle, even without exercise! I am getting better every day. Thank you for being an inspiration to me, and I thank God for my healing!

  5. If you would like to hear more about my healing and are based in the UK I am being interviewed tomorrow (24th October) on Christian radio. UCB2 at 9:30am, you can listen live here: or afterwards by downloading the UCB app and selecting ‘This is my story’.

  6. As someone who has suffered with M.E. over many years, this is so encouraging and I join in celebrating with you! I keep hearing stories from all over the place about how God is healing this condition.
That psychological battle you refer to that comes often through repeated disappointment cannot be over stated. Hope deferred makes makes the heart sick – but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life!
We all persevere in yielding to God, remaining soft hearted towards Him, continuing in prayer and faith as the Holy Spirit enables us, but one of the ways we do that is through the encouragement we receive from wonderful stories like yours – so thank you for sharing.
I for one would be really interested in hearing what the actual experience of being healed looked and felt like at the time it happened, if there is a way you would be willing to share that. 😃

    1. Hi Rob, thanks for sharing. I am really glad my story has encouraged you.

As I said in the post there were multiple indicators that I would be healed when I was. I was at a Christian conference when it happened. A lady shared in the meeting about how she had been healed from chronic fatigue the year before, there was a sermon about it being God’s job to take down the Goliath’s in our lives and then a time of prayer. Initially when I went forward someone prayed and I thought that like many other times God was giving me the strength to keep facing the illness. Then someone else came and laid hands on me, I met with God powerfully for 45 mins and by the end of that we all knew it was over.

  7. Thanks, that’s amazing!
I’ve always been curious what it will feel like to be healed.
I’ve had quite a few deep and powerful experiences of God when being prayed for, so much so that on at least a couple of occasions I’ve thought ‘this must be it!’ but then woken up feeling as bad as ever. I’m determined not to let past disappointments rob me of future blessings and I’m discovering it’s only a deep friendship with God that will keep hope alive in my heart.
