What is the purpose of this blog?

Hi my name is Lucy, I’m a Christian. This blog is about purpose, identity and strategies for engaging with God when facing a difficult situation such as illness or bereavement. It is for those facing tough things but also for friends and family who are encouraging them in the Lord.

I draw on my own personal experience of poor health and also that of others. The blog is not about how to manage health conditions but about how people have engaged with with God through them. In my case I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and depression for over 3.5 years. For more than two years I was very unwell, my husband David was my full time carer because I was often unable to hold basic conversations or move freely around the house. Over time my health did gradually improve to the point where I led a highly structured and supported life but I was able to walk for 15 minutes, see people for 1-2 hours and volunteer for a few hours a week for the UK Christian social justice charity Jubilee+.

Through my journey of poor health I’m very grateful for all God has taught me and changed in my character. He really can use all things including the wilderness of poor health for his glory.
